Formazione coreografica
dAS_de Arte Saltandi apre la candidatura alla seconda edizione di SCHOLA NOVA percorso di formazione e tutoraggio rivolto a creatori/trici della danza, coreograf*, danzatori/trici che vogliono acquisire, potenziare e approfondire competenze coreografiche da applicare alle proprie opere.
PROPOSTA DIDATTICA
Il percorso si articola in 18 incontri (suddivisi in 9 fine settimana) con artist* internazionali, da ottobre 2026 a maggio 2027 a Piacenza.
Il focus per il 2026-27 è la creazione site-specific*, pensata per spazi non convenzionali e in dialogo imprescindibile con il luogo, in continuità con la poetica di tutta l’attività di dAS.
Il programma didattico parte dalle basi della composizione coreografica e continua esplorando la drammaturgia contemporanea, l’adattamento site-specific (re-staging) e il benessere psicofisico nella danza. Questa edizione include anche un focus sulle nuove tecnologie.
È previsto l’eventuale tutoraggio per le creazioni-in-divenire degli allievi partecipanti. Questo accompagnamento ai progetti individuali è anche finalizzato a costruire possibili future collaborazioni con dAS Festival.
Al termine del percorso si terrà un esito performativo site-specific in una location di valore storico-artistico nel centro della città di Piacenza.
Il corso è in italiano e in inglese.
*SITE-SPECIFIC: Con questa terminologia si intende un tipo di creazione che vive della relazione stretta con il luogo in cui è presentata. Non semplicemente una pièce per spazi non convenzionali (fuori dai teatri e dalle sale designate come luoghi di spettacolo), bensì un lavoro che può esistere in quella forma solo in quello spazio, mentre non avrebbe senso o perderebbe la sua identità se spostato altrove (a meno che non vengano introdotte modifiche sostanziali).
DOCENTI
Riccardo Buscarini - coreografia
Coreografo vincitore di numerosi premi e riconoscimenti in Italia e all’estero, Riccardo Buscarini firma nuove creazioni per ZfinMalta, Malta National Dance Company, Chelyabinsk Contemporary Dance Theater (Russia), EDGE and The Place Prize (UK), Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano, Equilibrio Dinamico (Bari), Accademia Nazionale di Danza, MP3 Project (Roma), Opus Ballet (Firenze), Carmen Senra Danza (Madrid). Dal 2011 al 2015 insegna Coreografia e Performance alla Birkbeck University di Londra. Degne di nota sono le collaborazioni nel campo delle arti visive (London Festival of Architecture, Nahmad Projects, UNA Galleria) e regie d’opera in Italia, Regno Unito e Malta. Nel 2023 fonda dAS_de Arte Saltandi di cui è direttore artistico.
Scott Jennings - coreografia
Danzatore, performer, creatore e formatore britannico, di base a Berlino, dal 2009 lavora nel campo della danza contemporanea e delle arti dal vivo.
Come interprete e collaboratore ha lavorato con Lloyd Newson (DV8 Physical Theatre), Dimitris Papaioannou, Robert Wilson, Alexandra Waierstall, Alan Lucien Øyen, Maxine Doyle and Matthew Bourne, tra altri.
Dal 2012 al 2018 fa parte del Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, sia performando internazionalmente l’eclettico repertorio di Pina Bausch sia come interprete in due nuove creazioni della compagnia. Insegnante e mentore appassionato, Scott organizza e tiene corsi, workshop e seminari dal 2017. È spesso invitato come docente ospite in scuole, istituzioni artistiche e festival in Europa e nei paesi limitrofi. Ha studiato alla BRIT School (2002-2006) e ha conseguito una laurea di primo livello con lode (BA Hons) presso la London Contemporary Dance School (2006-2009).
Livia Massarelli - riallestimento / pratiche meditative
Livia Massarelli è un'artista internazionale che lavora all’intersezione tra danza contemporanea e pratiche di consapevolezza, esplorando la relazione tra corpo, attenzione e stato di presenza. La sua pratica, The Mindful Dancer, unisce danza contemporanea, meditazione e coaching. Attraverso le sue pratiche, stimola la consapevolezza nei performer e nel pubblico, favorendo un’esperienza incarnata della performance. Livia lavora come artista ospite in istituzioni internazionali tra le quali Rambert School, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, English National Ballet School, Trinity Laban e Institute of the Arts Barcelona. Ha presentato i suoi lavori coreografici in contesti internazionali quali Maison de la Danse (Lione), The Place (Londra) e Jacob’s Pillow (USA), oltre che in numerosi festival e contesti di ricerca. Parallelamente, è attiva nella ricerca accademica nel campo della danza e del benessere, con pubblicazioni su riviste peer-reviewed tra cui il Journal of Dance and Somatic Practices. Livia Massarelli è inoltre Accredited Certified Coach (ICF) e guida di meditazione. Il suo percorso nasce da oltre quindici anni tra Italia e Regno Unito, con un MA in Contemporary Dance Performance presso la London Contemporary Dance School (2017) e un BA presso l’Accademia Nazionale di Danza di Roma (2013). È Program Leader del MA in Contemporary Dance Performance Equilibrio Dinamico Ensemble.
Gabriela Tropia Gomes - dance for the screen
Gabriela Tropia, regista di video e formatrice, lavora all'intersezione tra danza, cinema e performance. È direttrice del corso MA Performance: Screen alla Central Saint Martins di Londra, dove dirige uno degli unici corsi post-laurea dedicati ai film d'artista. Gabriela Tropia ha progettato e diretto il MA in Screendance presso la London Contemporary Dance School, sperimentando approcci pedagogici pionieristici in un campo che fonde coreografia e pratiche cinematografiche. Le sue opere come regista di danza per il video sono state proiettate in tutto il mondo. Under the Cobblestones, una collaborazione con i coreografi Igor & Moreno e la musicista Bellatrix, esplora la protesta e la libertà di parola ed è stato presentato al Cinedans Festival di Amsterdam e premiato al Passion for Freedom Arts Festival di Londra. Il suo cortometraggio Units of Actio è stato proiettato in oltre dieci paesi ed è stato inserito nella Videodance Mercosul Compilation. Tableleg è stato presentato al Sadler's Wells Theatre. Ha ricevuto commissioni dalla T.H.E Company e dal Museo Nazionale di Singapore. Il suo lavoro Jam Series indaga l'improvvisazione attraverso la pratica come ricerca.
Rodia Vomvolou - drammaturgia
Rodia Vomvolou è una drammaturga/dramaturg attiva nella danza, ricercatrice e docente che vive tra la Grecia e i Paesi Bassi. Ha conseguito una laurea triennale in Teoria del teatro e della performance e una laurea magistrale in Teatro contemporaneo, danza e drammaturgia, e sta attualmente completando il suo dottorato di ricerca sull’autodefinizione del ruolo del drammaturgo nella danza presso l’Università di Utrecht (NL). Il suo lavoro si concentra sulla pratica drammaturgica attraverso un taglio femminista che enfatizza la soggettività, la embodied presence e la conoscenza “tacita”, creando al contempo strutture e contesti discorsivi che sostengono la collaborazione, la sperimentazione e la riflessione critica. In qualità di drammaturga indipendente, Rodia collabora con artisti nei Paesi Bassi, in Grecia e a Cipro, tra cui Vloeistof, Fernando Belfiore, Anastasia Valsamaki, Eleni Mylona, Petros Konaris e Konstantina Skalionta. Ha insegnato e svolto attività di mentoring a livello internazionale presso istituzioni quali Dansateliers Rotterdam, Onassis Stegi, PERA School of Performing Arts, Fontys Academy of the Arts, e il corso di laurea triennale Expanded Contemporary Dance Bachelor dell’AHK. Dal 2019 è mentore e co-curatrice del Programma di Sviluppo Artistico “Moving the New” presso la Dance House Lemesos.

Schola Nova è rivolta a maggiorenni che abbiano completato un percorso di formazione professionalizzante o con comprovata esperienza professionale.

Choreography Lab
dAS_ de Arte Saltandi organises the second edition of SCHOLA NOVA, the choreography training and tutoring course aimed at dance creators, choreographers, and dancers who want to acquire, enhance and deepen choreographic skills to be applied to their own works.
PROGRAMME
The programme is articulated in 18 encounters (in 9 weekends) with international artists, from October 2026 to May 2027 in Piacenza, Italy. In continuity with the ethos underpinning all of dAS’s work, the 2026-27 focus is site-specific* creation, especially devised for unconventional spaces and in dialogue with the place.
The training starts from the basis of choreographic composition and continues with an exploration of contemporary dramaturgy, site-specific adaptation (re-staging) and psychophysical wellness in dance. This edition also includes a focus on new technologies.
A tutoring/coaching opportunity is available for the participating students’ works-in-progress. The mentoring process for individual projects is also meant for creating possible future collaborations with dAS Festival.
At the end of the course, there will be a site-specific performance at a venue of historical and artistic significance in the centre of Piacenza.
The course is taught both in Italian and English.
*SITE-SPECIFIC: this term refers to a type of creation that depends from the close relationship with the place where it is presented. Not simply a performance for unconventional spaces (therefore not theatres or performance venues), but a work that can only exist in a specific form in a specific space, whereas it would make no sense or lose its identity if moved elsewhere (unless substantial changes are made).
TEACHERS
Riccardo Buscarini - choreography
Award-winning choreographer Riccardo Buscarini, after graduating from the London Contemporary Dance School in 2009, has created new works for ZfinMalta, Chelyabinsk Contemporary Dance Theater, EDGE (The Place), The Place Prize, Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano, Equilibrio Dinamico (Bari), Accademia Nazionale di Danza, MP3 Project (Rome), Opus Ballet (Florence), and Carmen Senra Danza (Madrid). From 2011 to 2015, he taught Choreography and Performance at Birkbeck University of London. He has led company classes at Aterballetto and Skånes Dansteater (Mälmö, Sweden) and held workshops at the London College of Fashion, Wimbledon College of Arts, TripSpace, Independent Dance (London), Firkin Crane (Cork), and many other institutions. Noteworthy are his collaborations in the visual arts (London Festival of Architecture, Nahmad Projects, UNA Galleria) and opera direction in Italy, the United Kingdom and Malta. Scott Jennings - choreography
Scott Jennings is a British-born professional dancer, performer, maker and teacher based in Berlin, Germany. Since 2009, he has been working widely in the field of contemporary dance and live theatre.
As a performer and collaborator, Scott has worked with Lloyd Newson (DV8 Physical Theatre), Dimitris Papaioannou, Robert Wilson, Alexandra Waierstall, Alan Lucien Øyen, Maxine Doyle and Matthew Bourne, to name a few.
From 2012-18 he was a member of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, performing Bausch’s eclectic repertoire worldwide, as well as being involved in two new creations for the company.
A passionate teacher and mentor, Scott has been developing and facilitating classes, workshops and seminars since 2017. He is a regular guest teacher at schools, arts institutions and festivals in and around Europe.
Scott studied at The BRIT School (2002-06) and holds a first class BA (Hons) degree from London Contemporary Dance School (2006-09).
Livia Massarelli - restaging / meditation pratices
Livia Massarelli is an international artist working at the intersection of contemporary dance and mindfulness practices, exploring the relationship between the body, attention and a state of presence. Her practice, The Mindful Dancer, combines contemporary dance, meditation and coaching. Through her work, she fosters awareness in performers and audiences alike, encouraging an embodied experience of the performance. Livia works as a guest artist at international institutions including the Rambert School, the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, the English National Ballet School, Trinity Laban and the Institute of the Arts Barcelona. She has presented her choreographic works in international venues such as the Maison de la Danse (Lyon), The Place (London) and Jacob’s Pillow (USA), as well as at numerous festivals and research contexts. In parallel, she is active in academic research in the fields of dance and wellbeing, with publications in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Dance and Somatic Practices. Livia Massarelli is also an Accredited Certified Coach (ICF) and a meditation guide. Her career spans over fifteen years across Italy and the UK, with an MA in Contemporary Dance Performance from the London Contemporary Dance School (2017) and a BA from the National Academy of Dance in Rome (2013). She is Programme Leader of the MA in Contemporary Dance Performance at the Equilibrio Dinamico Ensemble.
Gabriela Tropia Gomes - dance for the screen
Gabriela Tropia is a filmmaker and educator working at the intersection of dance, film, and performance. She is the Course Leader for the MA Performance: Screen at Central Saint Martins, where she leads one of the only postgraduate courses dedicated to artist films. Gabriela designed and led the MA in Screendance at the London Contemporary Dance School, pioneering pedagogical approaches in a field that merges choreography and filmmaking practices. As a dance filmmaker, Gabriela’s works have been screened across the globe. Under the Cobblestones, a collaboration with choreographers Igor & Moreno and musician Bellatrix, explores protest and freedom of speech and was shown at Cinedans Festival Amsterdam and awarded at London’s Passion for Freedom Arts Festival. Her short film Units of Action has been screened in over ten countries and was featured in the Videodance Mercosul Compilation. Tableleg was presented at Sadler’s Wells Theatre. She has received commissions from T.H.E Company and the National Museum of Singapore. Her Jam Series investigates improvisation through practice-as-research.
Rodia Vomvolou - dramaturgy
Rodia Vomvolou is a dance dramaturg, researcher, and educator based between Greece and the Netherlands. She holds a BA in Drama and Performance Theory and an MA in Contemporary Theatre, Dance and Dramaturgy, and is currently completing her PhD research on the self-positioning of the dance dramaturg at Utrecht University. Her work focuses on practical dramaturgy through a feminist lens that emphasizes subjectivity, embodied presence, and tacit knowledge, while creating frameworks and discursive contexts that support collaboration, experimentation, and critical reflection. As a freelance dramaturg, Rodia collaborates with artists across the Netherlands, Greece, and Cyprus, including Vloeistof, Fernando Belfiore, Anastasia Valsamaki, Eleni Mylona, Petros Konaris, and Konstantina Skalionta. She has taught and mentored internationally with institutions such as Dansateliers Rotterdam, Onassis Stegi, PERA School of Performing Arts, Fontys Academy of the Arts, and the Expanded Contemporary Dance Bachelor AHK. Since 2019, she has been mentor and co-curator of the Artistic Development Programme “Moving the New” at Dance House Lemesos.

For the 2026–27 Schola Nova edition, dAS is awarding a scholarship to a deserving participant in the C10 Fest choreography competition (Piacenza).
